Author Talk With Mia Birk
Discussion with author Mia Birk on her inspiring book, Joyride: Pedaling Toward a Healthier Planet
THURSDAY, MAY 7, 2026
It's Bike, Walk and Wheel Week! Join the us and Daniel Boone Regional Library for a discussion with author Mia Birk about her inspiring story, Joyride: Pedaling Toward a Healthier Planet. On May 7th, from 12-1 pm, dive deep into Mia’s twenty-year crusade to integrate bicycling into daily life. This book tells the story of her personal experience leading a revolution that helped grow Portland, Oregon into the country's premier cycling city. Birk then took that info on the road to teach communities how to incorporate cycling into their civic DNA to make their towns healthier, safer and more livable. We hope you’ll be able to join us in person or register to participate online via Zoom.
