Week Without Driving

Join Local Motion in the Week Without Driving Challenge

SEPTEMBER 29 - OCTOBER 5, 2025

We are proud to announce our participation in the Week Without Driving challenge from Monday, September 29 to Sunday, October 5, 2025. This groundbreaking national initiative showcases a unified effort to experience the world through the lens of non-drivers nationwide. Joining forces with the National Coalition for a Week Without Driving, we are committed to fostering a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by non-drivers in our community and across the nation.

The #WeekWithoutDriving is not just a campaign but a challenge for elected leaders, advocates, and individuals to step into the shoes of those who cannot or choose not to drive. Participants are encouraged to engage in all their daily activities using any form of transportation other than driving themselves. This endeavor aims to broaden understanding and empathy towards the everyday barriers faced by nondrivers, be it due to disability, age, economic circumstances, or personal choice.

Get Involved and Embrace the Challenge

During the Week Without Driving, members and staff of Local Motion will lead by example, opting out of driving themselves for an entire week. We are inviting the entire Columbia community to participate in this eye-opening challenge. By joining us, residents can gain valuable insights into the importance of accessible and diverse transportation options. This participation is not just for work commutes but includes all daily activities.

"Signing up for A Week Without Driving is an opportunity to understand our community differently, but it's not just about challenges and barriers. There are real benefits to getting around without a personal vehicle; we hope participants will experience those too." - Josh Parshall, Chief Development Officer, Local Motion.

We will have more information to come, here on our website, about our scheduled events and any resources to make the most out of the Week Without Driving challenge. For broader details about the national initiative, please visit www.weekwithoutdriving.org.

Join Local Motion in this transformative experience and help make Columbia a more inclusive, accessible, safe, and connected community.
