Vélo Vini Vici

Celebrating women on bikes with a social bike ride around downtown Columbia

Vélo Vino Vici is a fall evening bike tour (or walking tour!) celebrating women on bikes. This event is a fun, easy, and social bike ride for women with stops for wine samples.

Enjoy wine tastings at stops throughout downtown Columbia in celebration of the significant role the bicycle has played in women’s empowerment and independence.

Do you want in on the fun but don't want to bike? No problem! The entire route is walkable as well!

Join us Sunday, October 3, 2021!

For on-site registrations, we will be able to accept card payments via smartphone only.

This is a guided ride, so we will travel together. We will give participants a set of tickets, and when you arrive at the stop, you will trade in your ticket for a wine tasting.

What to Expect

Vélo Vino Vici is a women-only event. The event is organized by women, for women. This ride celebrates the significant role the bicycle has played in women’s empowerment and independence.
We welcome women to bike or walk the event. The distance between stops is short, so it’s an easy bike ride and a manageable walk. 21 years and older only.

If you’re not a woman but still want to be involved, contact us to volunteer to help with the event.

  • This is a bike ride, so ride your bike (or walk!) to the start at Walt’s Bike Shop!
  • If you do need to drive to the start, you can park in the parking lot at Walt’s.
  • No need for spandex or padded shorts. Dress for an evening on the town.

We will ask for each person’s ID when you check in to verify that everybody is over 21, so bring your photo identification.

  • If you're going to ride after dark, YOU MUST BRING LIGHTS! To stay safe and legal, we recommend having a white front light and a red rear light. If you don’t have lights, you can pick them up from any of the local bike shops.
  • We will provide snacks during the ride, but we encourage you to eat before you arrive.
  • Please be sure you know what the traffic laws and rules of the road are while you’re on a bike. We will expect everyone to abide by them to stay safe and legal.
  • Bring a bike lock. Not all locations will have bike racks but please use them when possible. Please don’t block sidewalks when parking your bike.
  • We will give you a set of tickets, a map, and list of the stops. When you arrive at the stop, you will trade in your ticket for a wine sample.
  • We will travel in groups from one stop to the next, and will let you know when it’s time to move to the next stop.

If you pre-ordered a t-shirt, we will have it ready for you to pick up when you check-in for the event.

If you didn’t pre-order but are interested in buying a shirt, we will have some available to buy on-site at Walt’s.

If you have any difficulty with your bike while you’re out on the ride, we will have a mechanic along the ride to help you out.

We will have a check-out table at Uprise. Please be sure to stop at the table so we know you’ve finished the ride. If we don’t check you off our list we will desperately call you and try to track you down to be sure you’re safe.
